unKeep Buyer Terms
Last updated: 25 June 2026
These Buyer Terms are a legal agreement between you (the "buyer", "you") and AllMumsTalk Limited ("unKeep", "we", "us", "our"), company number 08233578, registered office 5 Golden Mede, Waddesdon, England, HP18 0NG. They govern your use of the unKeep app and website (the "platform") as a buyer.
Please read them carefully. By creating a buyer account or by using any buyer feature, you agree to these Buyer Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
These Buyer Terms work alongside our other policies, which form part of your agreement with us:
- Terms of Service (the master terms for everyone)
- Privacy Policy (how we handle your personal data)
- Cookie Policy
- Acceptable Use Policy
- Prohibited and Restricted Items Policy
- Community and Safety Guidelines
- Reservation Fee Policy (the full detail on the 1.00 reservation fee)
- Subscription Terms (the detail on add-on billing and cooling-off)
- Complaints and Dispute Resolution Policy
Where a topic is covered in more detail in one of those policies, we point you to it.
1. What unKeep is, and what it is not
1.1 unKeep is an online marketplace that helps people across the UK buy and sell second-hand items for collection in person. Sellers list items; our AI assistant helps draft and price each listing; buyers find items, reserve them, and collect them in person.
1.2 unKeep is collection-only. There is no postage, courier, or delivery through the platform. Every item is collected by the buyer, in person, from the seller, within a set distance of the buyer (the default radius is 15 miles; the Ultra Radius subscription removes this limit, see clause 12).
1.3 unKeep is NOT a party to the sale of any item. The contract for the goods is made directly between you (the buyer) and the seller. unKeep does not own, sell, supply, inspect, store, handle, or guarantee any item. We provide the platform that introduces buyers and sellers and supports the reservation and collection process. Think of us as the venue and the introduction, not the shopkeeper.
1.4 unKeep NEVER handles, holds, or routes the money for the goods. You pay the seller directly, in cash, in person, at collection (see clause 6). The only payment you ever make to unKeep is the 1.00 reservation fee described in clause 5, which is a platform service fee charged when you reserve and is entirely separate from the price you pay the seller for the item.
1.5 Because unKeep is not the seller, your statutory rights as a consumer for the goods themselves (for example under the Consumer Rights Act 2015) are against the seller, where they apply, not against unKeep. Many sellers are private individuals; see clause 7 on "sold as seen" and on which rights do and do not apply.
2. Buyer accounts are free
2.1 Buyer accounts are free. You do not pay a subscription to browse, search, reserve, or collect items as a buyer. The only charge you ever pay unKeep as a buyer is the 1.00 reservation fee per reservation, explained in clause 5.
2.2 To use buyer features you must:
(a) be at least 18 years old;
(b) be resident in the UK and able to collect items in person within your radius;
(c) give accurate registration details and keep them up to date;
(d) keep your login details secure and not share your account.
2.3 You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly at connect@unkeep.co.uk if you think someone else has accessed it.
2.4 Two optional paid subscriptions are available to buyers. Neither is required to buy:
(a) Ultra Radius (4.99 per month) removes the 15-mile collection limit so you can reserve and collect anywhere in the UK (see clause 12);
(b) the Buyer Agent (9.99 per month) is an AI assistant that watches (hunts) unKeep for the listings you want, up to 5 hunts at once, proposes matches, and prompts you to reserve. It never reserves on your behalf; every reservation needs your confirmation (see clause 11).
These are separate subscriptions billed by us through Stripe. Subscription billing, auto-renewal, and your 14-day cooling-off right are covered in clause 13.
3. Saving a card
3.1 To reserve an item you must have a valid payment card saved to your account. Saving a card lets us charge the 1.00 reservation fee described in clause 5, and lets us bill any add-on you choose.
3.2 Card details are collected and stored by our payment provider, Stripe. unKeep does not store your full card number. By saving a card you authorise us, through Stripe, to:
(a) charge the 1.00 GBP reservation fee when you reserve an item; and
(b) where you have an active add-on, take the recurring subscription payment for that add-on.
3.3 You confirm that any card you save is yours, or that you have permission to use it. Keep your card details current; if a card expires or is declined we may be unable to charge the reservation fee, which will stop you reserving items.
3.4 More on how we handle your data is in the Privacy Policy.
4. Reserving an item
4.1 When you reserve an item, you reserve that specific item so you can collect it. Reserving is how you tell the seller you are coming, and it takes the item off the market for other buyers.
4.2 Reserving an item:
(a) charges the 1.00 reservation fee to your saved card (see clause 5);
(b) reveals the seller's location for collection, in the stages set out in clause 9 (before reservation you see only an approximate area);
(c) sets your fixed 1-hour collection slot, during which you complete the handover (see clause 8).
4.3 You can have a maximum of 5 active reservations at any one time. An active reservation is one that has not yet been collected, cancelled, expired, or otherwise closed. Once you reach 5, you must complete or cancel an existing reservation before making another.
4.4 You can cancel a reservation before collection. The 1.00 reservation fee pays for the reservation service we have already provided (reserving the item, taking it off the market, revealing the handover location, and arranging the QR-confirmed collection), so it is non-refundable if you cancel. The exception is where the collection cannot go ahead through no fault of yours (see clause 5.4), in which case we refund the fee. Cancelling promptly is still good practice, as it frees the item for the next buyer. Repeatedly reserving and cancelling, or reserving with no genuine intention to collect, may count as misuse under clause 10 and the Acceptable Use Policy.
4a. Making an offer
4a.1 You do not have to reserve at the asking price. As well as reserving an item at the seller's shown asking price (clause 4), you can make the seller an offer below it. The price is a starting point, not a fixed figure, and we invite you to make an offer where you would like to negotiate.
4a.2 An offer is private and one-to-one. Your offer goes only to that seller; it is a private negotiation between the two of you. unKeep is not a public auction site and your offer is not a bidding war: other buyers do not see your offer, and you do not see anyone else's.
4a.3 A pending offer expires after 24 hours. If the seller has not accepted or rejected it within 24 hours, the offer lapses and you are free to make another or to reserve at the asking price.
4a.4 The seller accepts or rejects. The seller sees your offer together with your buyer rating and decides whether to accept or reject it. A seller may set a private minimum they are willing to take; an offer below that minimum is declined automatically, and you are simply told the offer was too low. We never show you a seller's private minimum.
4a.5 If the seller accepts, you have 24 hours to reserve at the agreed price. Acceptance is an invitation to reserve at the price you agreed, not a reservation in itself. You have 24 hours to reserve at that price, after which the acceptance expires. An accepted offer does not take the item off the market: anyone can still reserve it at the full asking price first and secure it, so reserve promptly if you want it.
4a.6 The reservation fee is charged only when you reserve. Making an offer, and having one accepted, costs you nothing. The 1.00 reservation fee (clause 5) is charged only when you reserve, whether you reserve at the asking price or at an agreed offer price. Once you reserve via an accepted offer, the reservation works exactly as in clause 4: the item comes off the market, the handover location unlocks (clause 9), and your 1-hour collection slot is set (clause 8).
4a.7 unKeep is still not a party to the sale. As with any reservation, unKeep is not the seller and takes no commission. You pay the seller the agreed offer price directly, in cash, in person, at collection, and the item is sold as seen (clauses 6 and 7).
5. The 1.00 reservation fee: how it works
This clause is important. Please read it in full.
5.1 What it is. The 1.00 GBP is unKeep's reservation fee: a platform service fee you pay us for facilitating a reservation. It pays for reserving the item for you, taking it off the market for other buyers, revealing the handover location, and arranging the QR-confirmed collection. It is a fee for the unKeep service, not a payment towards the item.
5.2 It is charged immediately when you reserve. When you reserve an item we charge 1.00 GBP to your saved card straight away through Stripe. This is a real charge: the money leaves your account at the moment of reservation. It is not an authorisation, a hold, or an earmark, and nothing is set aside to be taken later; the fee is taken up front because that is when we provide the reservation service.
5.3 Non-refundable if you cancel or do not collect. The reservation fee is non-refundable if you cancel your reservation, or if you are a no-show, meaning you reserved the item but did not collect within your reserved 1-hour slot. In both cases you paid for the reservation service and unKeep provided it, so the fee is not returned. The fee is not a charge for breaking these terms; it is simply the price of the reservation service, which you used.
5.4 Refunded when the collection fails through no fault of yours. If the collection cannot go ahead for a reason that is not your fault, we refund the 1.00 reservation fee. This includes where the seller cancels, the seller is a no-show, the seller delists the item, the seller sells the item to someone else, the item is not as the listing led you reasonably to expect when you arrive and you decline to proceed, or the seller closes their account; and where unKeep cancels (for example a prohibited item, a takedown, or a suspension). Refunds are automatic where we can determine fault (for example where the seller closes their account); otherwise contact us at connect@unkeep.co.uk and we will refund you.
5.5 No-show consequence is reputational, not extra money. If you are a no-show, the only consequence beyond keeping the reservation fee you already paid is reputational: an automatic downvote is applied to your rating (see clause 5.6). The reservation fee was already taken when you reserved, and nothing extra is charged for a no-show.
5.6 Two-way ratings. After a completed collection, the buyer and the seller rate each other. If a party does not turn up, an automatic downvote is applied to the party who did not turn up.
5.7 What the reservation fee is NOT. To be completely clear:
(a) it is NOT a deposit;
(b) it is NOT stored value, credit, a wallet, e-money, or a balance held for you;
(c) it is NOT customer money held by unKeep, and unKeep is not a deposit-taker;
(d) it is NOT a penalty, a fine, or a forfeit for breaking the agreement;
(e) it is NOT part-payment for the item, and it is never set against or deducted from the price you pay the seller;
(f) it is NOT transferable or spendable.
It is a one-off service fee, one reservation fee per reservation, charged when you reserve. There is no stored balance on your account at any time. You can have a maximum of 5 active reservations at once (clause 4.3).
5.8 Multiple reservation fees. Because you can have up to 5 active reservations (clause 4.3), you may pay up to 5 reservation fees of 1.00 each. Each follows the same rules: non-refundable if you cancel or are a no-show, and refunded where the collection fails through no fault of yours.
5.9 More detail. The full detail of how the reservation fee works, including timing and refunds, is in our Reservation Fee Policy. Where that policy and this clause 5 say the same thing, they are meant to be read together.
6. Paying the seller
6.1 You pay the seller for the item directly, in cash, in person, at collection. Bring the right amount; sellers may not be able to give change.
6.2 unKeep never handles the goods money. We do not take it, hold it, route it, or see the final agreed price. The price you pay is a matter between you and the seller. The listing price drafted with our AI assistant is a guide and a starting point; the actual price is whatever you and the seller agree at handover.
6.3 We do not record the final agreed sale price. This is deliberate.
6.4 Please do not ask unKeep to refund, recover, or chase money you paid a seller. Because we are not a party to the sale and never held the money, we cannot do this. Any dispute about the goods or the price is between you and the seller (see clause 7).
7. Sold as seen, no returns through the app
7.1 Items are sold as seen. You are buying a specific second-hand item in the condition it is in at collection. Inspect the item carefully before you hand over any cash. Once you have inspected it and paid, the sale is complete.
7.2 Inspect on collection. The collection handover is your opportunity to check the item is what you expected: condition, completeness, function, size, and anything else that matters to you. If it is not right, do not pay and do not complete the collection; you can decline to proceed and, because the item was not as described, we will refund your reservation fee (see clause 5.4).
7.3 No returns through the app. unKeep does not operate returns, refunds, or exchanges for items. There is no "return" button. Once cash has changed hands in person, the transaction is done from the platform's point of view.
7.4 Your rights against the seller. unKeep is not the seller, so consumer guarantees for the goods (for example the satisfactory-quality and as-described rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015) do not apply to unKeep. Whether they apply at all depends on whether the seller is selling as a trader or as a private individual:
(a) where a seller is a private individual, the main protection is that the item must not be misdescribed, but the broad consumer guarantees of quality do not apply between two private people;
(b) where a seller is acting as a trader (in the course of a business), consumer guarantees may apply against that seller directly.
Either way, those rights are against the seller, not against unKeep.
7.5 If something is genuinely wrong. If an item was seriously misdescribed, is unsafe, is counterfeit, or appears to be stolen, please report it to us through the app or at connect@unkeep.co.uk. We cannot referee the sale or refund you, but we act on reports under our Acceptable Use Policy and Prohibited and Restricted Items Policy, including notice-and-takedown and removing sellers who break the rules. For unsafe, counterfeit, or stolen goods you may also have routes to Trading Standards, Action Fraud, or the police.
8. Collection slots
8.1 When you reserve an item, you choose a fixed 1-hour collection slot from the seller's published availability. You must collect within that 1-hour slot. The slot is shown in the app at the time of reservation, as a one-hour window (for example "Thu 19 Jun, 14:00-15:00").
8.2 Turn up within your reserved 1-hour slot at the seller's handover point. The slot is the collection time; there is no need to arrange a separate time.
8.3 Confirming the handover by QR code. Collection is confirmed in the app by a single-use QR code: you (the buyer) show the code in your unKeep app and the seller scans it with their camera. The seller scanning your code is what marks the collection as completed (see clause 5.6 on the two-way ratings that follow). Only show your code once you are happy with the item and have completed the handover; do not show a code for an item you have not actually collected, and do not let a seller scan your code before you have it.
8.4 If your 1-hour slot ends without collection:
(a) and the reason is down to you (you did not collect within your slot), this is a no-show: the reservation fee you already paid is non-refundable (see clause 5.3) and an automatic downvote is applied to your rating (see clause 5.5);
(b) and the reason is down to the seller or is otherwise not your fault, we refund your reservation fee (see clause 5.4).
8.4a Reporting that a seller did not turn up. To report a seller no-show, you must do so from the seller's collection address during your slot (from when it starts until one hour after it ends). The app uses your device location to confirm you were at the collection point before this report can be filed and the fee refunded. This protects sellers from false no-show claims. If your location cannot be confirmed, if it appears to be simulated, or if you are not at the address during that window, the report cannot be filed; if you believe this is wrong, contact us at connect@unkeep.co.uk. We use your device location only to confirm presence for this report, by comparing it once to the seller's exact collection point; we do not track or store your movements (see the Privacy Notice).
8.5 If you need a different time, you can ask to amend your collection slot once, before it starts, and the seller approves it if they have another slot free (see the Amend collection time option in the app). Do not assume a change; if you cannot make your slot, ask to amend it or cancel, so the reservation does not sit open.
8.6 Failing to collect items you have reserved, repeatedly or deliberately, may lead to action under clause 10 and the Acceptable Use Policy, separately from the reservation fee and any downvote.
8.7 Collection reminders. About 24 hours before, and again about 2 hours before, your agreed collection time, both you and the seller receive a reminder notification. Check the app for the time and the address.
9. Location and privacy before and after reservation
9.1 Before you reserve an item, you see only an approximate area for the item, not the exact address. This protects sellers' privacy and safety.
9.2 After you reserve, your view of the seller's location unlocks in stages. Straight away you see the street name and full postcode with an approximate area pin, so you can plan your journey. The exact address (house number and second address line) and the precise map pin unlock at the start of the collection day (00:00 UK time). If the seller has no reserved time slot, the full address is shown immediately. Keep it private. Do not share a seller's exact location with anyone else or post it anywhere.
9.3 We strip location data from photos. When sellers upload photos, we remove EXIF and GPS metadata on ingest, so hidden location data is not exposed.
9.4 How we handle your personal data, including your own approximate location used for matching and radius, is set out in the Privacy Policy.
10. Buyer conduct
10.1 You agree to use unKeep honestly, fairly, and lawfully. In particular you agree to:
(a) only reserve items you genuinely intend to collect;
(b) turn up on time for collections you have arranged, or cancel in good time;
(c) communicate respectfully with sellers through the app;
(d) inspect and pay for items in person, in cash, as agreed;
(e) keep sellers' exact locations and personal details private;
(f) leave only honest, genuine reviews based on real transactions.
10.2 You agree NOT to:
(a) reserve items with no intention of collecting, or repeatedly reserve and cancel to game the platform;
(b) try to take the transaction off-platform to avoid the platform's protections, or pressure a seller to do so;
(c) harass, threaten, abuse, defraud, or mislead a seller or any other person;
(d) attempt to buy prohibited or age-restricted items (see clause 14);
(e) post fake, paid-for, or incentivised reviews, or reviews not based on a real transaction;
(f) breach the Acceptable Use Policy, Community Guidelines, or any law.
10.3 If you break these rules we may, depending on severity, warn you, restrict features, suspend your account, or close it. Serious or illegal conduct may be reported to the authorities. See also the Terms of Service for our general enforcement and suspension rights.
11. Buyer Agent (optional, 9.99 per month)
11.1 The Buyer Agent is an optional AI assistant. When switched on, it watches (hunts) unKeep for the listings you want, up to 5 hunts at once, proposes matches, and prompts you to reserve. It never auto-reserves; every match needs your confirmation.
11.2 Propose-then-confirm. The agent works on a propose-then-confirm basis: it presents a match, and nothing is reserved and no reservation fee is charged until you confirm it (clause 11.3). The agent never reserves an item or charges the reservation fee on its own.
11.3 One-tap confirm. To make confirming easy, you can accept a drafted reservation with a single tap. When you tap to confirm, you are reserving that item: this charges the 1.00 reservation fee (clause 5), counts towards your 5 active reservations (clause 4.3), reveals the handover location (clause 9), and sets your 1-hour collection slot (clause 8), exactly as if you had reserved it yourself.
11.4 You are responsible for the reservations you confirm, including one-tap confirmations of matches the agent proposes. The Buyer Agent is a helper, not a guarantee that an item is right for you; the inspect-on-collection rule in clause 7 still applies in full, and you can decline the item in person at collection.
11.5 The Buyer Agent is a convenience tool and we do not promise it will find matches, find the best price, or find anything at all. Matching depends on what sellers have listed.
11.6 The Buyer Agent is a paid add-on (9.99 per month) billed under clause 13. You can turn it on or off; turning it off stops new proposals from then on, but does not cancel reservations already made.
11.7 No autonomous reservation. The Buyer Agent never reserves an item or charges the reservation fee without your confirmation. It only proposes matches; a reservation happens only when you tap to confirm one (clause 11.3), which is the point the 1.00 reservation fee is charged. We may offer an optional automatic-reservation mode in the future; if we do, we will explain it and ask for your express consent before it can be switched on.
12. Collection radius and Ultra Radius (optional, 4.99 per month)
12.1 By default, you can reserve and collect items within 15 miles of your location. This keeps unKeep genuinely collection-only and local.
12.2 Ultra Radius (4.99 per month) removes the 15-mile collection limit so you can reserve and collect anywhere in the UK. The wider reach is shown in the app.
12.3 Ultra Radius is a standalone subscription. It is available to buyers and to sellers, and you do not need any other subscription to take it. It is billed under clause 13.
12.4 Turning off or cancelling the Ultra Radius subscription returns you to the default 15-mile radius at the end of your paid period.
13. Add-on subscriptions, billing, and cooling-off
This clause applies to the buyer subscriptions: the Buyer Agent (clause 11) and Ultra Radius (clause 12). Our general Subscription Terms also apply to these subscriptions; where this clause 13 and the Subscription Terms cover the same point, read them together.
13.1 Billing. Add-ons are billed monthly in advance through Stripe to your saved card. They auto-renew each month until you cancel.
13.2 Prices. Current prices are: Buyer Agent 9.99 per month; Ultra Radius 4.99 per month. We will tell you in advance of any price change, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
13.3 Cancelling. You can cancel an add-on at any time in Settings. Cancellation stops the next renewal. Unless a refund is due under your cooling-off right (clause 13.4), cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid month and you keep the feature until then.
13.4 Your 14-day cooling-off right. As a consumer, you have a 14-day right to cancel a new add-on subscription under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, starting the day after you subscribe.
(a) Consent to start now. When you subscribe, you can ask us to start the service immediately, within the 14-day period, and you acknowledge that doing so affects your refund as set out below. We will ask for this express consent at sign-up.
(b) If you cancel within 14 days and the service had not started, you get a full refund.
(c) If you asked us to start the service immediately and then cancel within 14 days, you can still cancel, and we will refund you on a pro-rata basis for the part of the month you have not used.
13.5 How to exercise the cooling-off right. Cancel in Settings, or tell us clearly at connect@unkeep.co.uk. You can use the model cancellation wording if you wish; it is not required.
13.6 Reservation fees are separate. The 14-day cooling-off right applies to add-on subscriptions. It does not apply to individual 1.00 reservation fees (clause 5), which are one-off service fees for a reservation, not subscriptions.
14. Prohibited and age-restricted items
14.1 Some items must not be listed or sold on unKeep at all. These are set out in the Prohibited and Restricted Items Policy and the Acceptable Use Policy. You must not try to buy them.
14.2 Age-restricted items are banned at launch. Because handovers happen in person and we cannot verify age at the point of collection, items that are restricted by age (for example alcohol, knives and bladed articles, and other age-restricted goods) may not be sold on unKeep. Do not attempt to reserve or buy them.
14.3 If you see a listing that breaks these rules, report it through the app or at connect@unkeep.co.uk. We operate notice-and-takedown and act on reports.
15. Reviews, pricing, and fair dealing
15.1 Genuine reviews only. Any review you leave must be honest and based on a real transaction you took part in. We do not allow fake, incentivised, or paid-for reviews. This reflects the DMCCA 2024 rules on genuine reviews.
15.2 Clear pricing. We aim to show prices clearly and without hidden add-ons or drip pricing. The 1.00 reservation fee is explained in clause 5, and add-on prices are in clause 13. If you ever feel a price or fee was not made clear, tell us at connect@unkeep.co.uk.
15.3 No unfair practices. We aim to deal with you fairly and not to mislead you, in line with the DMCCA 2024 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If any part of these terms turns out to be unfair or unenforceable, the rest still applies.
16. Limits on our responsibility
16.1 unKeep provides the platform; it does not sell the goods. We are not responsible for the items themselves, their quality, safety, legality, ownership, or description; the seller warrants those things, not us (see the Seller Terms and clause 7).
16.2 We are not responsible for what happens at a collection between you and a seller, including the price you agree, the cash you hand over, or any in-person interaction. Take sensible safety precautions: meet sensibly, bring someone if you wish, and trust your judgement (see the Community and Safety Guidelines).
16.3 Nothing in these Buyer Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any of your statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
16.4 Subject to clause 16.3, we are not liable for loss or damage that is not a foreseeable result of our breach, or for business losses (the platform is for personal, non-business use by buyers).
17. Suspending or closing your account
17.1 You can close your buyer account at any time in Settings. Closing your account does not undo charges already made, for example a reservation fee already charged for a reservation you made, or an add-on you are still within a paid month for.
17.2 We may suspend or close your account, or restrict features, if you break these Buyer Terms or our other policies, if we are required to by law, or to protect other users or the platform. Where it is fair and lawful to do so, we will tell you why.
17.3 Active reservations may be cancelled if your account is closed or suspended; where that happens through no fault of yours, we refund the reservation fee for each affected reservation.
18. Changes to these terms
18.1 We may update these Buyer Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the platform or the law. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date, and where changes are significant we will give you reasonable notice.
18.2 If you keep using buyer features after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, you can stop using the platform and close your account.
19. Law, disputes, and contact
19.1 These Buyer Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may have the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
19.2 Complaints. If something has gone wrong, contact us first at connect@unkeep.co.uk. We will try to put it right. How we handle complaints, and the steps and timescales involved, are set out in our Complaints and Dispute Resolution Policy. For complaints about an item or a seller, see clause 7.5.
19.3 Disputes with sellers. Because unKeep is not a party to the sale, disputes about the goods, the price, or the in-person handover are between you and the seller. We can act on reports of rule-breaking, but we cannot arbitrate the sale or refund the goods money (which we never held).
